Founded in 1869 as Keswick Literary and Scientific Society, Keswick Lecture Society is a staple in the Keswick community. Every winter we have 10 lectures between October and March, typically on a wide range of topics including travel, natural history, mountaineering, expeditions, art and culture. It’s true that over the years many of our talks have involved tales of mountaineering and outdoor pursuits, but in the winter months we also like to expand our knowledge of other aspects of life. A quick look at our current and previous programmes will give you an insight into the diversity of our speakers.

Meetings are held alternate Tuesdays in the Queen’s Hall at Keswick School, 5 before Christmas and 5 after New Year.

Membership for the year is £35 or £15 for students and under 18s. This entitles you to admission to each lecture on showing your membership card. Non-members may attend lectures by paying £7.50 (£3 for students or under 18’s) at the door, on the night.
