Glaciers & Climate Change : Michael Hambrey

Glaciers and ice sheets around the world are melting in response to human-induced global heating and are the main reason for global sea-level rise that is already having a severe impact on coastal regions. Michael has spent more than half a century investigating glaciers worldwide and has documented their dramatic shrinkage. The talk includes stunning but sobering images from the Arctic, Antarctic, Alps and Himalaya. Michael gives scientific evidence for global heating, stresses the damaging impact on human society and the need to urgently turn away from fossil fuels and counters the false narratives that are prevalent amongst some world leaders and politicians.
